Remedies For Kids’ Dry Skin

Greetings all. It’s that time of year where blisteringly cold weather creates dry skin problems for infants and older children.

When my son Dakota began to show signs of dry skin issues related to the weather, I made created a moisturizing cream for him to use in the mornings before leaving for school, and at night after he's had a bath.

Indoor heating systems can exacerbate the problem because they crank out dry air with low humidity.

But there are a few things that you can do to help kids deal with dry skin.

1) Use a mild soap or body wash. Remember that hot water makes the problem worse. Make certain water is warm.

2) Moisturizers help best when skin is still slightly wet.

3) Use a humidifier in their bedroom.

4) Have your child wear a moisturizer and gloves to protect skin on delicate hands.

5) A lot of kids still swim in the winter months. Make sure they shower and apply a moisturizer after leaving the pool.
